Dear Members, Welcome to the Chamber's December Update. Merry Christmas and thank you for all your support this year. We hope you have a good break over the festive season. The Chamber’s last event of the year is Annual General Meeting to be held on Wednesday 14th December, 4pm at SkyCITY Casino. We look forward to seeing all members there. MEMBER UPDATEASB – Business Weekly Economic ReportIn this week’s ASB Business Economic Report, Central Banks are due to make rate announcements this week and the recent European debt crisis has resulted in six major banks to shore up liquidity. For more information click here for a full report. Queenstown Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting 2011The forthcoming Chamber AGM will be held on Wednesday 14 December. There will be three Board vacancies to vote for at the AGM. Nominations have been received from Michelle Baillie (SkyCITY Queenstown Casino), Craig Douglas (NZ Ski Ltd), Charlie Phillips (Queenstown Resort College), Alastair Porter (Remarkables Park Ltd), Sian Taylor (Warren & Mahoney Architects Ltd), Richard Thomas (Mt Scene Ltd). Date: Wednesday 14 December Queenstown Events Centre Master Facilities Plan – Community ConsultationLakes Leisure is currently working on the Queenstown Events Centre (QEC) Master Facilities (MFP) for the development of the indoor and outdoor facilities at QEC to help meet the growing demand for sports and recreation in our community. Feedback is essential to ensuring the community’s needs will be well considered in the planning process. Your feedback will be considered during Councils Long Term Plan process in early 2012. A wide group of people across the district have had their say in ‘Community’ forums on ‘Events and Economic Futures’ to develop a new vision for the district. The Shaping Our Futures Steering Group will be reporting back to the “original 30” and other key stakeholders on their progress and reflections from the past year and discuss plans for 2012. The Steering Group expect to report back on the community and events forums early in the New Year. A number of local businesses have already accessed this new training scheme and have found the assessment process both straight forward and useful.
